Sign of heartbreak
Not far from the Iannicello-Rutkowski memorial, at Clifton and Dublin roads, a wooden cross, only a foot high, has been planted in the ground. A small Christmas wreath with a gold bow and tiny bells hangs from it.
On the cross is a color picture of man and a small plaque that reads: "In memory of James "Jimmy" McAraw, 1960-2000."
At that site, on June 24, the White Oak man was killed when his motorcycle struck a car. His younger brothers, John of White Oak and Ray of North Huntingdon, put the cross in place on Christmas Eve.
This latest memorial, powerful in its simplicity, stands as yet another silent testament to tragedy and love.
