ALFRED R. ZAHN

PRIVATE ZAHN'S BODY TO RECEIVE MILITARY BURIAL
The body of Alfred Zahn, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Zahn, 932 North
Ninth street, Manitowoc hero who died in the service of his country
overseas, will arrive in the city Saturday morning. The funeral will
be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home with the American
Legion in charge and service by the Rev. E.A. Boyd. Burial will be at
Evergreen cemetery.
Alfred Zahn left here with a contingent of nine local boys who went
to Lansing, Mich., in May 1918 to take a special course of training in
agriculture under government's war department supervision and was sent
overseas shortly afterward. Exposure caused the young man to contract
peneumonia and he died at a Paris hospital and was buried at Sureness
on the Seine. He was 24 years old and previous to induction into the
service had represented the Great Northern Life Insurance company as
local agent.
Besides his parents, Private Zahn is survived by three sisters and one
brother, Mrs. J.E. Overland of Atas (sic) Miss Verna and William, Jr.,
all of this city.
