Matthew J. Nolan, 65, of Pontiac died at Saint James Hospital. He had been ill since February 1984.
He was born Dec. 24, 1922, at Pontiac, a son of Matthew and Bessie (Mowery) Nolan. He married June Wooldridge at Indianapolis, Ind., on Nov. 30, 1963.
Mr. Nolan attended rural Jordan Grade School and graduated from Pontiac Township High School. He worked for Livingston Service Company from 1947 to 1959, first running the company's feed delivery and then operating its gas bulk truck many years. He farmed from 1959 until 1987 when he retired.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Pontiac Elks Club and Pontiac American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
His family includes his wife; one brother, James; four sisters, Mary Mies, Margaret Somer, Rita Tibbs and Rosella Duffy; 10 nieces and 8 nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
