Silas Brandenberger, 90, passed away on May 25, 2013 in Fredericksburg, Texas.

He was born in the Ten Mile Community, northwest of Mason, Texas, on December 17, 1922 to Silas and Bertha Brandenberger. After attending elementary school in the Ten Mile Community, he graduated from Mason High School and attended Tarleton State College and Texas A&M University. After serving in the Army Quartermaster Corps in World War II, Silas returned home in 1946 to be a rancher in the Ranch Branch and Ten Mile Communities.

He married Patsy Hofmann on June 24, 1946 and they had 4 children. Silas served the community in many ways – he was a member of the choir at the First United Methodist Church and the Mason Men's Choir. He served as a church trustee as well as a member of the Mason School Board. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A hard-working rancher, Silas raised cattle, sheep and Angora goats for many years. He was well-respected for his quality Angus cattle that frequently won blue ribbons at special sales in Mason and San Angelo.

Silas was preceded in death by his son, Frank Brandenberger, in 2007.

He is survived by his wife Patsy and sons Bob Brandenberger and his wife Cheryl of Richardson, Andy Brandenberger and his wife Stacey of Georgetown, and his daughter Ann Grote and her husband Tracy of Austin; 7 grandchildren, Brynne Komonchak and her husband Andy, BJ Brandenberger and his wife Elisha, Elizabeth Hill and her husband Sean, Laura Grote, Katy, Ethan and Chelsea Brandenberger, and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will take place on Monday May 27, 2013 at 10:30a.m. at 1st United Methodist Church of Mason with interment to follow at Gooch Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be in Sunday May 26 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home.
