A funeral memorial service for Corey Stringfellow, 16, will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Northeast Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 pm in the church atrium prior to the service.
Corey passed away May 24, 2013. Born in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of Thomas Keith and Patricia Treiber Stringfellow.
Corey attended Spring Valley High School and was a member of the varsity soccer team and an honorary member of the Cardinal Newman soccer team. Corey was also a longtime member of the South Carolina United Futbol Club. Corey was an avid surfer, skier, and loved basketball, soccer, football, listening to music and most recently fishing with his friends. He adored spending time with his friends and his family and enjoyed being surrounded by all of them. He had a hug for everyone he knew and was a kind and gentle soul that loved life and adventure. His friends will remember him for his beautiful smile that lit up the room and his easy laugh. Corey had dreams of attending culinary school, traveling the world and surfing in Hawaii. Corey was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his brother, Cameron Thomas; sister, Caroline Claire; maternal grandmothers. Sara James Stringfellow of Rock Hill, SC and Betty Andrews Treiber of Columbia; aunts and uncles, John Stringfellow, Mike Stringfellow, Missy Stringfellow Whiting, Lori Treiber, Jeff Treiber and cousins, Spencer and Meredith Stringfellow, Sara and Brooke Whiting and Jacob Treiber.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Camp Kemo, 7 Richland Medical Park, Suite 203, Columbia, SC 29203.
