Martha graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1936 and was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing cards and games at the family cottage, bowling, and was an avid MSU and Detroit Tiger fan. In her younger years, she and her husband liked going to dances.
On May 24, 1941, she married Victor E. Whiting who predeceased her in 1998. She was also predeceased by their son, Gerald W. Whiting, on May 8, 2015.
Survived by her sons Douglas V. (Margaret) of Parma, Roger C. (Lou Ann) of Mason, and daughter-in-law Glenda L. Whiting of Lansing. Grandchildren: Marcy L. (Kenneth) McFadden, Renee S. (Allen) Spiewak, Jeremy W. Whiting, Katharyn (John) Schlueter, Elizabeth Whiting, Mary (Jeffery) Oamek, and seven great-grandchildren, with one due in July. Martha is also survived by one brother-in-law, David Meerman of Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lansing.
Memorials may be made to the church.
