Rona Newton-John, the older sister of Olivia Newton-John, has lost her battle with brain cancer.

Rona married Brian Goldsmith (1961 - 1968). Chantoozies star Tottie Goldsmith is her daughter. In 1969 Rona married Graeme A Hall. Son Emerson Newton-John (born 1974) is a professional race car driver who has raced in Europe, Australia, and the United States. From 1980 - 1985 Rona was married to Grease star Jeff Conaway. Jeff played Kenickie in Grease. He died in 2011.

Rona's condition turned bad in April, 2013 causing her sister Olivia to cancel her upcoming dates in Las Vegas. "As a cancer ‘thriver' myself, as many people are, I am very aware of the importance of love, support and family during this journey she is about to begin," Olivia said in a statement last month.

"I want to thank everyone in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time."

Rona had many acting roles including appearances on The Benny Hill Show and the British television series ‘Gerry Anderson's UFO'.
Rona Newton-John was a British actress, born in Cambridge, England. She was a model in her early years and had many small acting roles - notably on "The Benny Hill Show" (1969), the British television series "UFO" (1970) and the film "The Same Skin" (UK) (also known as Brotherly Love (1969).

She came from an accomplished family: her older brother is Hugh - a doctor and her younger sister is Olivia Newton-John - the famed British singer and actress. Rona and her siblings' grandfather was German physicist, Max Born - a Nobel prize-winner. Their mother was Irene Born - a writer, photographer and environmentalist and their father was Brinley Newton-John - a Professor (Cambridge's King College) and a Dean gifted with an operatic voice. Rona had recorded a duet called "Just Us Two" with her sister Olivia in 1972 and was a guest on "The Mike Douglas Show" (1961) (USA) in 1979. The cooking segment of the show also featured Rona and Olivia preparing their English soup recipe. Rona also enjoyed writing.

Rona was diagnosed with brain cancer in April 2013.

Rona's paternal grandparents, Oliver John and Daisy Newton, were Welsh. Her maternal grandfather was German Jewish physicist and mathematician Max Born (the son of Gustav Jacob Born, an author and histologist). Rona's maternal grandmother, Hedwig (Hedi) Ehrenberg, was of German Jewish descent on her own father, jurist Victor Ehrenberg's, side, and of German descent on her own mother, Elise Marie von Jhering's, side. Elise's father, Rona's great-great-grandfather, was legal historian Rudolf von Jhering. Through her maternal grandmother's father, Rona is a third cousin of British comedian Ben Elton.
