John S. Ray, politician, historian, baseball manager and a nationally known figure in circus, theatrical and carnival circles, died at his home, 1606 East Spring street, from an attack of acute indigestion. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lillian Ray; two brothers, Edgar Ray of Louisville and Theodore Ray, a Marine at Panama, and two sisters, Mrs. Esther Garrett of Muncie, Ind., and Miss Pearl Ray, Madison, Ind.
