My Father Constantine Carageorgis came to Australia mid 1952, he was the youngest of 5 siblings, Michael, Jim, Helen and Heraclea. His mother Anna, and father Themistocles remained in Egypt. after a short time he met Angela then (Papast) who passed away in 2001 from the exact same Cancer, which was Pancreatic.
They met in 1952 and after a short 6 month courtship married on the 26th of April 1953, that married produced three children, Themis in 1954, Anna in 1959, and Effie in 1965.Mum and Dad were married for 40 years, but unfortunately separated in 1993 and it was a bitter separation without any reconciliation, Dad did a lot of odd jobs, but was corrupted quickly by gambling which was a major contributing factor to many of the stresses and fights between them.
Dad was an extremely handsome and charismatic man, with a lot of potential, who could have aspired to good things and a successful career, but a life without God and direction will cause chaos and upheavals in one's life.
There were opportunities which came his way but he did not utilize his luck well. Apart from the lows he did have highs and was lucky to get out of many situations, in 2012 he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, the Dr's gave him 3 to 6 months, he spent his last 3 weeks at St Vincent's Hospice where they as with my mum took good care of him. He will be missed, and even though my mum and dads parting was bitter she as he deep down loved one another so much so, that the plot he bought was not far from her grave and was the only spot left in her row, there were graves bought on either side but no one bought the one in her row, even after her death the spot remained free till he was ready to buy his space 12 years later. I told him later that she had kept it for him! I believe now that they are together, happy and the couple they could and should have been in life. God bless.
