Obituary for Marion A. Kemp

A mother holds her child’s hand for a little while and their hearts forever…..Our loving mother and grandmother Marion A. Kemp, 83, formerly of Vanderkarr Rd., Barton, NY passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in New London, North Carolina. Marion was born on March 18, 1928 in Salem, Massachusetts a daughter of the late J. Kenneth and Mildred (Parks) Aldrich.

She was a 1945 graduate of Owego High School and during her senior year, met the love of her life, LeRoy Kemp. Marion and LeRoy were married on January 13, 1946 in Smithboro and together they owned and operated Kemp’s Poultry Farm. Marion enjoyed completing puzzles, crocheting, reading and being surrounded by her family. On January 13, 2010 her heart was broken with the sudden passing of her loving husband of sixty-four years.

Marion is survived by her children: Susan and Gary Mandrino of New London, NC; Pamela and Richard Mott of Waverly, NY; Milton and Nancy Kemp of Barton, NY; brother Edward Aldrich; sisters: Frances Gascon, Nelly Short, Betty Schmidt, Joann Rumsey, Florence Zimmerer and Julie Green; seven grandchildren: Roxann (Matthew) Galster, Karen Stewart, Michelle Grimes, Andrea Grimes, Thomas (Melissa) Kemp, David (Brenda) Kemp, Sarah (Heath) Bennett; great grandchildren: Andrew Garey, Samantha Stewart, Elizabeth (Rick Lussier) Galster, Catherine, Christopher, Benjamin Galster, Victoria Grimes, Kennedy, Mackenzie Hill, Tyler Bennett and Natalie Kemp. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. 

A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Sunday, February 26th from 1 to 3 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Alan Bill, officiating. Interment will follow in the Smithboro Cemetery.
