Martinsville Bulletin (5-26-2013) - Paul A. Tuggle, 85, of Martinsville, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. He was born in Patrick County on November 13, 1927, to George Eugene Tuggle and Flora Spencer Tuggle. Paul served in the Navy during WWII and retired from DuPont with 40 years of service. He attended Mount Bethel United Methodist Church. He was an accomplished gardener, farmer, horticulturist and inventor. Paul was a member of American Legion Post 11 for over 60 years, VFW and AMVETS. He was also District Commander of American Legion District 6.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Rose Tuggle Hall; three brothers, Hampton Eugene Tuggle, Carl William Tuggle and George Stuart Tuggle.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Rakes Tuggle; two sons, James Robert (Bob) Tuggle and Dwayne Paul Tuggle; four grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Jay and Matt.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Pastor Steve Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with military honors by Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, 63 Mount Bethel Circle, Martinsville, VA 24112.
