Rocco was born in the small town of Taranta Peligna to Quirino Madonna and Angelica Merlino Madonna. He was one of 12 children.

Rocco married Laura De Marco on Oct. 15, 1901 in Taranta.

Rocco arrived on his first trip May 20, 1897 on the ship California. The second trip was Nov. 15, 1904 in New York on the ship Vaderland thru Ellis Island, sailing with his brother Vincent.

He was joined Sept 14, 2005 by his wife, Laura Lucia De Marco & their 2 year old son Eugene.

The family came to Louisville, Colo. Rocco & Laura had 12 children. Rocco's occupation was a blacksmith in the coal mines.
