Dorothy Heusler Chambers, 93, formerly of Waterloo, New York, passed away in Flint, Texas early Friday morning (February 15, 2013) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gail Milburn. A memorial service will be held at Junius Presbyterian Church in the spring, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Frederick and Hazel Francis Heusler of Geneva. She was united in marriage to Guy Keith Chambers on May 29, 1943 at North Presbyterian Church in Geneva. That same year, Dorothy graduated from Park Avenue Nursing School in Rochester and her husband was inducted into the Army. Dorothy lived in Geneva until 1950 when she and her husband moved to a 63-acre farm on Dublin Road in Junius. She lived there until 2003 when she moved to Texas to be near her daughter.

Dorothy was a registered nurse in charge of the maternity ward day shift at the time of her retirement from Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. In 1999, she was inducted into the Women's Wall of Fame in Seneca Falls. She was an avid quilter, crafter, and gardener, and loved crossword puzzles.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Donald Heusler of Geneva; and her sister, Rose Heusler Barrett of Danbury, Connecticut; two daughters, Gail (David) Milburn of Flint, Texas and Diane (James) Appel of Brighton, New York; three sons, Kirk of Flint, Texas, William (Beverly) of St. Augustine, Florida and Mark (Jane) of Geneva; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald (Buzzy) and Frederick; and two sisters, Beatrice Smith and Jean Kelly.
