On Sunday, March 24, 1912, at an early hour, Mrs. Anna Leopold, nee Schramm, passed away at the home of her son, Louis, in Valley township. The departed was born October 20, 1831, at Gribbohm, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Here she received her religious instruction and became a member of the Lutheran church. Here she was also married to Mr. Christian Leopold, who preceded her in death about 11 years ago. Six children were bestowed upon this union, two of whom died in infancy in Germany. In May 1882, the family emigrated to America, and here found and made a new home. She was a kind and faithful mother to her children to the last. She attained the age of eighty-one years, five months and four days. Two sons, Louis and John, two daughters, Mrs. Martin Jacobsen and Mrs. Henry Burmeister, all of Valley township, besides grandchildren and great-grandchildren mourn her departure. Her body was committed to the grave beside that of her husband near Hancock, by Rev. Bliese of the Lutheran church of Avoca, Iowa. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
