Obituary: The News-Herald, Hillsboro, Highland Co, Ohio, March 23, 1899: Michael M. Medsker, son of Michael and Sarah Medsker, was born in Highland county, near Hillsboro, January 1, 1812, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hiram Conklin, of Lumberton, March 15th, 1899, aged 87 years, two months and 15 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Graham in 1834 who died October 1863. To this union were born 9 children, 5 of whom died in infancy, 4, Mrs. Hiram Conklin, of Lumberton, Robert G., of Skidmore, Missouri, Mrs. Jonathan McKay, of New Burlington, and Thomas S. of Hillsboro, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. He was again united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Zink, May, 1866, who departed this life May, 1896. He was a devoted Christian for over 65 years, always abounding in the the work of the Lord. His home was always open to the ministers, and he was always ready to help the poor and needy. Several days before his death he kept saying, "It is finished." It seemed like his departure was more like a triumph than death. "Blessed be the Name of the Lord."
