Willard "Coy" Cox, 64, of Franklin, Indiana and formerly of Campbellsville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Franklin Meadows. He was born June 2, 1948 at home on Stoner Creek in Taylor County, Kentucky to Kenneth and Ivadean (Pittman) Cox. He married Roberta (Cochran) Cox on July 17, 1967 in Jamestown, Tennessee; she survives. He accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ on December 25, 1974 while visiting his uncle Teno at Barnes Furniture in Franklin, Indiana. He was later baptized with the Holy Spirit in November of 1976 at Market Square Arena during a Jimmy Swaggart crusade. He was a former member of the Assembly of God Church. He lived nearly all his life in Campbellsville, Kentucky where he owned and operated a body shop and repair garage, a piano tuning and repair business and later a TV/VCR repair shop before moving to Franklin to live out his days battling Alzheimer's disease.
Surviving is his wife Roberta (Cochran) Cox of Franklin; sons Randy Cox (Donna) of Franklin, and Joey Cox of Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren Zachary Cox and Gage Gilmore of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his mother Ivadean Cox of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Glenda Rainwater McKenzie of Campbellsville, Kentucky; and brothers Samuel "Sam" Cox of Campbellsville, Kentucky and Terry Dell Cox of Somerset, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Cox.
Reverend Dan Chappelow will conduct a service Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary And Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin. Friends may call Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
