LAJUANA ENGLESTEAD Beloved mother, devoted wife and cherished grandmother, LaJuana Englestead, 74, passed away Jan. 21, 2010.

LaJuana was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Cedar City, Utah, to Lawrence and Annie Marker, and sister to Rae and Edwin. The family moved to Hurricane, Utah, when LaJuana was 10. After graduating from Hurricane High School, she moved to Las Vegas, married Paul Wright Naegle in 1954, and had four children.

After her marriage to Paul ended, she married Sern Englestead in 1969. Together, LaJuana and Sern raised their combined family and enjoyed a full life of family, work, friends and world travel. She was a full-time homemaker and mother until 1966, when she joined the business world as an entry level bookkeeper.

Working her way to paymaster at the Sands Hotel, she enjoyed a 12-year career, eventually retiring from the hotel industry to support Sern's growing insurance business.

In 1978, her first of 12 grandchildren was born, and she spent the rest of her years spoiling them with lavish love and attention, creating memories they will treasure forever. She often said this was her most rewarding career.

LaJuana is survived by her loving husband, Sern; her grateful children, Lorilyn (Fred Lord), LaDawn, Paula and Mark (Lori); grandchildren, Ryan Castro, Melina Castro, Kevin Mitchell, Anthony Catalano, Elizabeth Catalano, Stephen Catalano, Megan (Cole) Simmons, Catherine Cole, Kurtis Naegle, Travis Naegle, Frank Naegle, Siera Naegle; her sister, Rae Marker; and many other family and friends who have been touched by her warm heart and generous spirit.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. LaJuana will be remembered at a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, with visitation one hour prior, at the LDS Paradise Stake Center, 1725 Palora Ave. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Hurricane City Cemetery, in Hurricane, Utah.
