Elizabeth Donnelly passed away in Sacramento, Calif., on May 21, 2013.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.

Beth was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Chicago, IL to Frank and Juliet Donnelly. She was the sister of her late brother, Frank Donnelly III. Beth lived her early life in the Chicago suburbs of Western Springs and Flossmoor.

Beth attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where she received her bachelor's degree in psychology. She later attended the University of Puget Sound, receiving her teaching credential. Beth spent her first years as a school teacher and later moved into corporate administrative positions. Beth ultimately settled into the real estate field in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she spent much of her professional career as an agent, broker and appraiser.

Beth also enjoyed the outdoors and participated in equestrian sports, bicycling, hiking and birding. She was an active member of the Western Wheelers in Palo Alto and the Audubon Society.

Beth loved Nevada City and eventually bought a house in 1983, hoping to move there someday. Ten years later she realized that dream and moved into her quaint Victorian home, becoming a permanent resident in her dream community.

Beth became very active in the local scene. She joined the local bicycle club and spent many hours riding the hilly roads in Nevada City. Beth also started up the Slow Spokes weekly ride of Nevada County, catering to the newer members of the sport. She also took up painting and attended classes at Sierra College, leading to her main interest of Plein Air painting. Beth's other interests included gardening, hiking and fostering pets. She also actively participated in the Nevada County Land Trust.

Beth leaves her partner of 25 years, Joe DeLellis; her first cousin, Susan Shafer; her two dogs Gina and Ladybug; and her many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beth's name to Scooter's Pals of Nevada City
