Longtime civil engineer, John Marshall Russell, Woodburn, died Friday in a Salem hospital. Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Finley's Rose Chapel with private interment at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum.

Born in Bergettstown, Pa., Feb. 22, 1887, Mr. Russell was employed for 30 years by the U.S. Corps of Engineers Portland District office. He retired in 1959 and moved to Woodburn four years ago.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Mary E.; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary E. Russell, Lake Oswego; a brother, Ralph, Santa Barbara, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
