Mr. Holly was a faithful member, deacon and Sunday School teacher at Turin Baptist Church. The Turin Baptist Church awarded him the coveted award of "Deacon Emeritus" for his dedication and service to the Lord. A Navy veteran of WWII, Mr. Holly served in the Pacific war zone. Afterwards, he graduated from the Southern College of Pharmacy and served the community as a pharmacist.
His son, Mr. Robert John "Bobby" Holly IV, preceded Mr. Holly in death.
A graveside funeral service was held Monday afternoon, Sept. 6, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Jonesboro, Ga. with the Rev. John McDuffie presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that contributions be made to either Georgia Baptist Hospice or Turin Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Holly; granddaughter, Ms. Carissa Holly of Norcross, Ga.; aunt, Mrs. Mae Hazard of Ashland, Ala.; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Gazaway of Sharpsburg, Ga.; niece, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Dettmering of Sharpsburg, Ga.; nephew, Mr. Joel Gazaway of Newnan; cousins, Mrs. Holly W. Butler of New York, N.Y. and Mrs. Gene Latty of Castleberry, Fla.
