Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from AT&T with 30 years service, was with the Fairfield County Sheriffs Office for 25 years and was the owner of the Frame Shop in Lancaster. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, the Rushville Lions Club, the Telephone Pioneers, the Widowers Club in Port Charlotte and was one of the founding members of the Celtic Gathering.RUSHVILLE: Jack L. McLaughlin, age 75, of Rushville, Ohio and Port Charlotte, Florida died Tuesday May 21, 2013 at his residence in Rushville.

Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from AT&T with 30 years service, was with the Fairfield County Sheriffs Office for 25 years and was the owner of the Frame Shop in Lancaster, Ohio. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, the Rushville Lions Club, the Telephone Pioneers, the Widowers Club in Port Charlotte and was one of the founding members of the Celtic Gathering. He enjoyed many years spent at his cottage on Buckeye Lake.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia L. and Steven D. Smith, Lancaster; his granddaughter, Erica Marie Smith, Lancaster; sisters, Virginia Comer and Norma Jean Confer both of Lancaster; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Marlene Karcher,Florida and Lowell and Judy Karcher, Lancaster; Uncle "Bub" is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends including John Ward, Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay E. (Karcher) McLaughlin; an infant sister, Marcelette; parents, Ralph A. and Myrtle M. McLaughlin; brothers-in-law, John Comer, Jack Linscott and Norman Confer; sisters-in-law, Shirley Crist and Peggy Karcher; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest H. and Elsie L. Karcher; nephews, Andy Linscott and Doug Comer.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster with Pastor Ron Grubb officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hil Cemetery on George Road where the Lancaster Ohio Veterans Detail will conduct military services. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund,c/o the funeral home in Jack's memory.
