CONCORD -- Flora "Flo" M. Chase, 86, died April 9, 2011, at Concord Hospital.

She was born in Concord to Clifford L. and Edna (Abbott) Morrill.

She was a member of East Congregational Church in Concord. In her early years, she was a member of East Concord Lamp Lighters and supported many charitable organizations.

Mrs. Chase was an accomplished poet. She wrote a poetry book that was published and distributed in the Concord school system. She also did poetry readings at Concord High School.

She influenced her grandchildren and many students with her poetry writings. She also loved music, singing and playing the piano. She was predeceased by her husband Edward F. Chase in 2002.

IN HER LIFE: Survivors include her two sons, Edward L. Chase and his wife Martha of Concord and Brian F. Chase and his wife Jeanne of Concord; one sister, Dorothy Dunton of Rumford Point, Maine; five grandchildren, Erik, Brian, Brandon, Aaron and Eddy; her nephew Cliff Lorden, who assisted and lived with her for many years; many other nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord.

Memorial contributions may be made to the CRVNA Hospice Program, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord 03301.
