She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1946, and went on to attend Culver-Stockton College in Canton. Donna spent many years living in Kennett and Columbia before returning to Poplar Bluff.

On March 4, 1951, Donna was married to Charles Luther Atkins. They were divorced in 1979.

Donna was a member of First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff. She was a homemaker and volunteered in many organizations over the years, including the Poplar Bluff Railroad Museum. Donna loved her dogs.

Donna is survived by two sons, Charles Douglas Atkins (Paula Takata) of Naperville, Ill., and William David Atkins of Osage Beach; 11 grandchildren, Amy Atkins, Tyler Atkins-Mose (Koda), Holly Atkins, Lindsay Atkins, Abe Atkins, Cary Atkins, Jay Atkins, Kristyn Atkins, Jeff Atkins, Lauren Meesey (Ryan) and Chase Atkins; three great-grandchildren, Braeden Ayala, Madelyn Ayala and Arcani Atkins-Mose; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her daughter Lurl Beth Atkins; parents, Lillian Swift Jackson and William Claude Jackson; and siblings, William C. Jackson, Carol Lee Hoemeyer, John Swift “Jerry” Jackson and Robert Miles Jackson.Donna Mae Atkins
