Julian W. Bunn died on Saturday, July 21, 2012, in his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was 94 years old.

Julian was born in Raleigh on March 21, 1918, the first son of Maude Davis and Julian Wilbur Bunn. He graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh and North Carolina State University in 1941 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined General Electric and during World War II traveled extensively in the Middle East and Asia to work on bomber and fighter aircraft engines.

Julian married Martha Britt, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. N. Britt of Lumberton, North Carolina in 1946. They had three sons, Julian Wilbur III, John Britt and Thomas Ware.
Following the war, Julian continued his engineering work in Raleigh, working as an engineer and manager at Aerotron and Aeroglide and later as a private consultant.

A warm and caring man, Julian was devoted to his wife and family. His beloved Martha, wife of 62 years, predeceased him in 2008.

Julian was a faithful servant of his church, Hayes Barton Baptist, where he continued his family's legacy of leadership. For over 80 years, he served in a number of roles including Deacon, Deacon Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Building Committee Chair, and at his death was still an active Deacon.

Following in his sons' footsteps, Julian became an avid golfer at the age of 70 and shot his age at 86. He was a passionate gardener and tinkerer to the delight of his family and friends.

Visitation will be at the home, 3005 Granville Dr, on Monday, July 23, from 5-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Hayes Barton Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 24, at 2pm. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be made to Hayes Barton Baptist Church or Hospice of Wake County.
Arrangements will be handled by Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes, 300 St. Mary's St.
