Jeremy Keith Norris, 33, of Alma died Wednesday afternoon (May 22, 2013) at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born in Clyde, NC and was raised in Bristol. Jeremy moved to Waycross in 2000 and currently was living in Alma. He was a 1999 graduate of Pierce County High School. After graduation he started working at the Waycross Fire Department and went thru the ranks to an Engineer.

Through the years he worked part-time with Dubberly Glass and Sherwin Williams. Jeremy always enjoyed Georgia Football and tutoring high school students in Math. He was of the Church of God faith. In 2010, his peers started the Waycross Fire Department Jeremy Norris Scholarship Fund at South Georgia State College and has helped several students since then.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, David Ward; paternal Wayne Norris; step-father, Donald Allen.

Survivors include his loving wife April Whitley Norris of Alma; two step-children, Brayleigh Whitley and Brody Boatright; two precious daughters, Jenna Marie Norris and Madilyn Elizabeth Norris (mother Kerissa) of Alma; his mother and step-father, Anna and Jim Bennett of Waycross; his father and step-mother, Jerry and Amanda Norris of White, GA; one brother, Christopher Wayne Norris of Ogden, UT; one step-sister, Karen B. McDaniel and her husband Michael of Waycross; maternal grandmother, Betty Nave of Waycross; paternal grandmother, Shirley Norris of Waynesville, NC; three uncles, David Ward and his wife Maureen of Lakeland, GA, Kenneth Ward of Greensboro, NC, Michael Norris of Waynesville, NC; one aunt, Faye Storey and her husband Stanley of Waynesville, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11 am at First Assembly of God in Waycross. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning beginning at 10 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waycross Fire Department Jeremy Norris Scholarship Fund, c/o Waycross College Foundation, 2001 South Georgia Parkway, Waycross, GA 31503.
