Floyd Manlough "Pappy" Short

Floyd Manlough "Pappy" Short was born on Thursday, January 21, 1909, in Lebanon DE, to Wilmer Francis and Julia (née Bostic) Short.

Pappy worked as a troubleshooter in the maintenance and repair department of Latex for 29 years, retiring in 1971. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving his country during WWII as a Bombardier, flying a B-17 over Italy. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing and reading. He lived in Camden DE.

Floyd "Pappy" died at Kent General Hospital, on Wednesday, February 28, 2001, in Dover DE, at the age of 92.

Pappy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Agnes Elizabeth (née Williamson) Short; a son and his wife, Floyd Michael Short and Susan of Lewes DE; a daughter and her husband, Laura Lester and Charles of Lincoln University PA; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Sharp and her husband Tom, Kristma Lester, Charlene Lester, and Chad Lester, all of the Lincoln University area; and a nephew, Robert Short of Baltimore MD.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Torbert's Funeral Chapel, 1145 E Lebanon Road, Dover DE 19901. Interment followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery, in Camden DE.
