Effie M. Shepherd, age 83, of Carlisle, Kentucky, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in Carlisle, Ky.
Effie was born March 24, 1927 in Salyersville, Ky., daughter of the late Robert and Lavina (Patrick) Kilgore, Sr.
She had lived most of her life in Willard and in Carlisle, Ky. for the past year.
Effie had worked for Buurma Farms in Celeryville for many years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Faith Builders Church of God in Willard. She loved cooking , her church, and caring for others and children.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Bivens of Texas, Pauline Rowe of Willard, Wanda Fehuct of Idaho, Ronnie Shepherd of Arkansas, Allen Shepherd, Robert Shepherd and Marvin Shepherd all of Norwalk, Darlene McDonald, Lorene Graves, Deborah McDonald and Donna Combs Claude Shepherd, Jr. all of Ky., numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Shepherd, Sr., her daughter, Shirley Brown, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Danny Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
