Andrew Alexander Mackey, Jr., 81, of Jefferson City died Friday, October 3, 2008 at his home. He was born November 24, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Andrew Alexander and Pauline Swobada Mackey. He was a graduate of Maplewood High School in Richmond Heights and attended the University of Missouri – Columbia. On June 28, 1952, Andrew was united in marriage in St. Louis to Joan M. Walsh, who preceded him in death on November 22, 2000.
Andrew served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1948. He was a longtime salesman for American Greetings Corporation and was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph.
He is survived by one son, Stephen W. Mackey of New Bloomfield; three daughters, Jill A. Mackey of Columbia, Kathleen M. Wehmeyer of Jefferson City, Andrea M. Hofmann of Jefferson City; two sisters, Grace Rathbone of St. Louis, Virginia Hunt of St. Peters; and six grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2008, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph Chapel, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Missouri River Hospice.
