James Freemont Bell Sr.
James Freemont Bell, Sr., 86, passed away May 21st surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren at OLOL Hospital. He was a devoted husband and father. He served honorably in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Jim began a family carpentry business many years ago. He enjoyed working as a carpenter with his sons until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Darlene Maruska Bell. He also leaves behind six children and their spouses, Rene and Carl Williams, Joe and Rhonda Bell, Rick and Teresa Bell, Jimmy and Glenda Bell, Dale Bell, Colleen and Dennis Montgomery. He has twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, June Bourge and Ruth Colbey, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Bell. Visitation will be held at Walker Pentecostal Church from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be conducted by his nephew, Reverend Austin Crehan immediately following the visitation. Interment will be Friday at Port Hudson National Cemetery all are invited to attend. Please arrive promptly at the cemetery at 11:15 services will be at 11:30.
