Kathy Beidleman Thompson passed away peacefully at home in Richmond, VA on May 14, 2013.

She is survived by her loving son, Daniel Thompson of Richmond; stepson, Ben (Debbie) Whitney, of Wilmington, NC; mother, Statia M. Beidleman of Pensacola, FL; brother William (Robin) Beidleman, of Birmingham, AL; sister Anne (Dennis) Yniguez, of Berkeley, CA; niece Pamela (Brian) King, of Madison, MS; nephew Matthew Beidleman of Birmingham, AL and by many loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Thompson and her father, Dr. Barkley Beidleman.

Ms. Thompson was born on June 4, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA and grew up in Pensacola, FL where she graduated from Pensacola High School. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA and her master's at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. She completed the coursework for her PhD at Catholic University in Washington, DC. She was Adjunct Professor Emeritus, School of Continuing Studies, University of Richmond where she taught anthropology, archaeology, and critical thinking. She was a member of the choir at St. Michael's Episcopal Church for many years and was devoted to her choir family.

Her family would like to thank the staff and congregation of St. Michael's Episcopal Church whose unwavering devotion to Kathy and her family will be remembered always. They would also like to express their appreciation to her caregivers.

A memorial service will be held May 23 at 3pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 8706 Quaker Lane, Bon Air, Virginia 23235 followed by a reception at the church. If one wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice .

Kathy was a graduate of Pensacola High School (FL), Class of 1967. While at PHS Kathy was active in the school theater productions of Little Abner, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Bye Bye Birdie. She also was a member of the French Club (President). Scribblers (Secretary), Knitting Club, Spanish Club, Y-Teens, Honor Society and the Student Council.
