He was born August 16, 1951 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Fred and Ernestine Murphy. He was a life member of the American Numismatic Association and owner of Bigg Fredd's Coin Shop in downtown Lancaster.
He is survived by his brothers, Steve (Connie) Murphy of Baltimore, Ohio and Randy Murphy of Lancaster; aunt, Judith Schullery of Lancaster; several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 North Columbus Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be given in Fred's name to the charity of one's choice.
