REEDER, G/SGT EDWARD "PETE" THOMAS, age 32, went to be with the Lord at 4:00 a.m. Iraq time, August 21, 2004. G/SGT Reader was killed in Fallujah, Iraq, in the service of his country. G/SGT Reeder was born May 2, 1972, in Flagstaff, Arizona, and graduated from the Camp Verde High School in Arizona in 1990. He joined the Marine Corps in 1990 and has served in Bosnia, Liberia, Omaha and many other areas of the world. He served two prior tours of duty in the Persian Gulf. He was stationed at Camp Lejune, NC, prior to being transferred to Birmingham, Alabama, in February of this year. He has served as an EMT with the Rescue Squads in both Onslow and Catawba Counties in North Carolina. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine; four-year-old daughter, Sarah Ruth; and ten-month-old son Jarrett Thomas, all currently residing with Christine's parents, Richard and Terry Burnett of Thomasville, NC. Also surviving are his parents, Elizabeth Reeder of Mayer, Arizona, and Samuel "Tom" Reeder of Yolo Ranch, Prescott, Arizona; a sister, Oleta Trimmer of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and grandmother, Ruth Kunkle of Los Alamos, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004, at 12 noon, at First Alliance Church, 424 Ninth Street, Lexington, NC, with Pastor Paul Titus officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
