AYNOR: Clifton J. Fowler, 70, of Benton Road, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at Conway Manor.
Mr. Fowler was born in Loris, South Carolina, a son of the late Carlie and Arcie Fowler. He was a member of Bakers Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Fowler was a farmer and prior to retirement, he was an accomplished salesman with Tidewater Equipment winning numerous awards during his 29 years of employment. He was predeceased by one brother, Harvey Fowler; and two sisters, Essie Fowler and Myrtle Fipps.
Surviving are his wife, Sonja Benton Fowler of Aynor; one son, Shane A. Fowler of Montreal, Canada; one daughter, Wanda Fowler Strickland and her husband, Spencer M. Strickland, of Tabor City, N.C.; one stepson, Stephen McDowell of Aynor; one stepdaughter, Shanna McDowell of Aynor; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wade Fowler and Tommy Fowler and his wife, Ethel, all of Loris; and two sisters, Clora Kilmon of Virginia and Mattie Fowler of Loris.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Todd, the Rev. Lamar Squires and the Rev. Alvin Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to St. Judes Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or to Winyah Community Hospice, 137 Professional Lane, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
