Bobbie Dene Townsend, 84, of Aztec, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 in Farmington. Bobbie was born Dec. 28, 1928 in La Mesa, Texas to Frank and Ora Kuykendall.
Bobbie was a graduate of Aztec High School. She was the longtime secretary at Park Avenue Elementary School in Aztec. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years.
She loved gardening, her Beta Sigma Phi sisters, collecting southwestern art and spending time with family and friends at their family cabin in Colorado.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis; her parents and her brother, Wendall Kuykendall.
She is survived by her children, Nancy (Mike), Kim (Sophie), Corey (Kelly), Kevin (Margie) and Kelly (Eleanor); brother, Ron Elam; sisters, Bette (Winston) Cleghorn and Darlene Kavanaugh; nine grandchildren, Marie, Megan (Derek), Toby, Tara (Porter), Jerra, Carson, Craig, Joel (Lily) and Cameron and great-grandchildren, Ellie and Addie.
A grave side service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, in the Aztec Cemetery, with Chaplin Carol Tookey officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Aztec Museum Association, 125 N. Main Ave., Aztec, NM 87410.
Bobbie's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332.
