Death of J. Spangler

Succumbed This Morning After Years of Illness.

After years of suffering John (sic) Spangler passed away at his home in Cherry valley this morning at 8 o'clock. Deceased had been a sufferer for years and for the last eight months was unable to leave his bed.

He was a native of Ohio, aged fifty-four years. He never married, and his nephew, C.L. Hoffman, has been caring for him during his last illness. Mr. Spangler came from Kansas to California in 1875. For years he was employed with the late Asa Higgins on the Lakeville ranch. He was also at one time employed by Lee Sales.

Deceased was a quiet, unassuming man, and those who knew him respected him for his many good traits. During his years of suffering he never complained, and bore his lot as was God's will.

The funeral will take place from his late residence tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment will be in Cypress Hill cemetery.
