The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Petersville Church of Christ. Officiating will be James Farris. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Park. The casket will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence.
Donald was married to his wife, Opal, for 53 years. He worked for the Florence Water Department and was later a Florence city fireman for 39 years and scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Sunday school teacher and a farmer for some of his life. He was the president of the Dixie Youth baseball league.
Donald is survived by his wife, Opal Russell Lindsey, Florence; daughter, Laura Lee Holt (Paul); sons, Donald Edward Lindsey (Amy), of Edwardsville, Ill., Robert Russell Lindsey, of Cloverdale; sister, Rebecca Cofield, of Florence; stepsister, Edith June Phillips, of Huntsville; stepbrother, Robert McKevely; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
