CENTRAL CITY — E. Lislynn Ferris, 92, lifelong resident of Central City, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fairview United Methodist Church near Central City, with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Burial will be in the Burke Cemetery near Central City. Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge
of the arrangements.

Mr. Ferris was born Oct. 14, 1920, near Central City to Lisle William and Virginia Gertrude (Sullivan) Ferris.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Galynn and Dee Ferris of Montgomery, Texas, Joel and Dee Ferris of Archer and Cindi and Ken Haney of Sparta, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Greta Lea and Melvin Johnson of Centennial, Colo.; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Central City High School in 1938 and then attended Nebraska Central College in Central City for two years. On Jan. 8, 1942, Lislynn was united in marriage to Yvonne Culbertson. They made their home near Central City, where they farmed. Lislynn continued to help out with the farming operation until his death. Yvonne died on Sept. 16, 2011.

Lislynn was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and the Whatsoever Adult Sunday School Class. He and Yvonne belonged to the BBFF Pinochle Club. The friendships of the members of their Sunday School Class and card club were special to Lislynn; but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. Before the closing of the Gardner Country School, Lislynn served on the School Board.

Lislynn was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Luke Ferris; and daughter-in-law, Linda Ferris.
