MARSHALL, N.C. - Harvey "Jabo" Franklin, 73, died Friday at the Elderberry
Health Care Center.

He had worked for the U.S. Forest Service.

Mr. Franklin attended the Tennelina Church of God.

"He was special and was loved by all," his family stated.

Mr. Franklin was a son of the late Hubert and Ollie Robinson Franklin and was
preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Franklin.

Survivors include his sisters and their husbands: Rosalie and Jerry Sane,
Sharon and James Franklin, and Mary and George Nienhold; his brothers: Kenneth
Franklin and his wife, Linda, and Tommy Franklin; his nieces and their husbands:
Cheryl and Tim Shelton, Debbie and Brian Reed, Sandra and Larry Simmons, and
Bonnie Baker; nephews: Mark Franklin and Jeffery Franklin; nine great-nieces and
great-nephews; and special friends: Barbara Wren and Bobby Hayes.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Madison Funeral Home in
Marshall.

The funeral service followed visitation at 8 o'clock in the funeral home
chapel. The Rev. Bobby Hayes and the Rev. Jimmy Dean Hensley officiated.

A committal service will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Wallin
Cemetery.
