Berthold A. Last, 98, formerly of 1825 S. 17th St., died on Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.
Bert was born on July 29, 1902 in Sheboygan, a son of the late Herman and Bertha (Kuether) Last. He attended Bethlehem Lutheran School.
On Aug. 9, 1927, he was united in marriage to Florence Meerdink at Waukegan, Ill. She preceded him in death on Dec. 1, 1975. Bert had been employed as a machinist for Sheboygan Machine.
Bert is survived by his sister, Margaret Dault, Sheboygan; a niece, Lisette Behrens, Sheboygan and Lisette's children and grandchildren; other nieces and nephews, Donna Meerdink and Edith Meerdink, both of Madison, Richard Meerdink, Milwaukee and Don Meerdink, Minnetonka, Minn.
Private funeral services for Berthold Last will be held Ramm-Ziegler-Novak-Rettke Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, with the Rev. Bradley Smith, pastor of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Bert's family would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Home Dr. Kerpe for the kind and wonderful care they gave to him.
