Portland, OR--Kay (Kingsbury) Wagner 73, passed away Wednesday May 15th, 2013 at the Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon.
Kay Kingsbury was born on July 28th, 1939 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Verne C. and Anna M. (Engebretson) Kingsbury. She grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota as the third of four children and was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church, Rapid City, South Dakota.
She graduated from Rapid City High in 1957 and soon after married the love of her life, Wilbur Wagner on August 7th, 1957 in Miles City, Montana.
They lived in Rapid City, South Dakota where three children were born to them, Daniel James, Lauri Kay (who died in infancy), and Terie Lynn. The family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1966 where Kay was a stay at home mom and homemaker.
Kay and Wilbur celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2007. Kay loved her family deeply and was looking forward to a busy year with the July wedding of her son, the August wedding of a granddaughter, and the September birth of her first great grandchild.
Kay loved spending time visiting with her many friends, crocheting, shopping, afternoon card games and spending time with her family.
Kay was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a proud grandmother, and so much more. She meant so much to so many people.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Wilbur Wagner; her son, Dan Wagner of Portland, Oregon; her daughter, Terie Obritschkewitsch of Billings, Montana and husband, Nick; her brother, Noel "Ozzie" Kingsbury of Vancouver and wife, Pam; 14 grandchildren, nine nieces and four nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, her daughter Laurie Kay and one niece.
Kay was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Portland, Oregon at the time of her death, where a celebration of life took place for her many Oregon friends on May 20th.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 28th, at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD with Rev. Herb B. Cleveland officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Rapid City.
