Martha R. Stewart Tice
Martha R. Stewart Tice, 82, of Blair Nursing Home, Mercer Road, Beaver Falls, formerly of R.D. 1 Portersville, Rt. 488, Perry Township, died Sunday, March 28, 1993, at 6:15 p.m. in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born July 11, 1910, in Butler County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fox Stewart, she had resided in the nursing home for one year. She and her husband had owned and operated Tice's Quaker State Service Station and Grocery for many years; during World War II she worked for St. Joe Lead, Monaca. She was a member of St. Agatha Church, Ellwood City, and Pleasant Hill Grange for many years. She came to the Ellwood City area around 1952.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Perry Tice, on Dec. 14, 1967, to whom she had been married for 38 years; two sons, Charles and Arthur Tice, and four brothers, Harold, Charles, Alvin and Joseph Stewart.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry "Mack" and Better Tice, R.D. 2, Rochester, and Joseph and Virginia Tice, New Brighton; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Lyndon, Butler; several nieces and nephews; many neighbors in Portersville; and a dear friend, Millie Miller, North Sewickley Township.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth St., Ellwood City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Agatha Church with the Rev. Father Paul Henne officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.
