Gad was one of 12 children born to Captain Gad Pierce & the former Mary Foster. In 1806 he settled along the Niagara Frontier and was connected with the War of 1812 by having a group of men march along the Niagara River from Lewiston to Fort Niagara, on horses to let the British think the Americans had more help that they really had. He owned a tavern at the "Y" interescetion of Main, Portage & Pierce, of which Pierce Avenue had been named in his honor. His grave site along with wife Anna, was located in the Oakwood Cemetery and photos have been attached to prove this site. He was married to the former Anna Piper on April 9, 1788 in MA
