Enlisted as a Sergeant 6/26/1861 at Marion Court House, SC, he mustered into "L" Co. SC 7th Infantry.
Wounded in shoulder 9/16/1862 in the Battle of Antietam; hospitalized 9/17/1862-11/4/1862 at Chimborazo Hospital #5 in Richmond, Va.
Killed In Action in the Battle of The Wilderness.

The 7th Infantry Regiment was assembled at Columbia, South Carolina, during the spring of 1861.
