Robert Martin Flynn, age 35, of Huntsville, Alabama died April 7, 2001, in Vietnam while aboard a Russian-made helicopter searching for the remains of MIAs from the Vietnam War. He was employed with the U.S. Air Force for 17 years.

Tech. Sgt. Flynn was a linguist from the Joint Task Force-Full Accounting, Detachment 2, Hanoi. Flynn was assigned to Hanoi in April 1999. He had been involved with JTF-FA operations since 1995. Flynn's unusual gift for languages was discovered on an Air Force aptitude test not long after his graduation from Huntsville's Butler High School.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Montevallo with burial in Montevallo Cemetery. Cecil Sewell, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rockco Funeral Home of Montevallo directing.

Survivors: two daughters, parents, sister, brother and grandparents.
