ROCKSPRING Rex L. Sims 94, died Saturday May 18, 2013. He was born April 10, 1919 in Napier, Tenn. to John and Annabelle Luker Sims.Rex was a graduate of the St. Elmo Elementary school, Lookout Jr. High School and the Chattanooga High School, Class of 1938.Mr. Sims was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. and was retired from Combustion Engineering after 43 years of service.He was a member of the Lakeview First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Shipley Sunday School class.Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Mary Lawson Sims and son Robert Lynn (Wilma) Sims, of East Ridge, Tenn.; Daughter Dianne (Buddy) Godfrey, Rock Spring, Ga.; Grandchildren, Robert Lynn Sims and Rodney Eugene Sims, of Harrison, Tenn., Karen Ina Blansit (Tylan), of Red Bank, Tenn., Jeremy (Jamie) Godfrey, of Rock Spring, Ga.; Great Grandchildren, B.J. And Brett Blansit, of Red Bank, Tenn., Ashley Sims of Higdon, Ala., Jude and Journey Godfrey, of Rock Spring, Ga.; Niece, Anna Martha Battle, Nephews, John Bass, Glenn (Judy) Bass, of East Ridge, Tenn., Steve Sims and Cecile Sims Goodwin of Chattanooga, Tenn. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday May 22, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tylan Blansit and the Rev. Patrick Cooper officiating.
