Daryl G. Phenicie, age 73, resident of New Washington, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on October 6, 1939 in Attica, Ohio to the late George W. and Mabel (Burky) Phenicie. Daryl's life was about working hard and perseverance. He overcame polio at a young age and rose to a 30 year career at Timken and volunteered at Contact in Crawford County. He seldom missed any of his children or grandchildren's activities and was a fixture at Buckeye Central sporting events. Throughout his retirement, Daryl and his wife, Maxine traveled throughout the United States. He could also be seen on a daily basis riding his bike throughout New Washington.

Daryl is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Maxine (Carpenter) Phenicie; four children, Michele (Brian Markley) Richards of Bucyrus, Dawn (Jason) Ratliff of New Washington, Allen Phenicie of Bucyrus, and Daniel (Courtney) Phenicie of Bellevue, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Andrea Richards, SPC Vincent (Aubrey King) Richards, Nicholas Ratliff and Taylor Ratliff; one brother, Donald (Jane) Phenicie of New Washington; one sister, Carol (Rayman) Mollencopf of Tiro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara E. (Hawkins) Phenicie on April 30, 1975.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Secor Funeral Home in New Washington from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Christian Alliance Church in Willard at 11:00 a.m., where Pastor Jim Trainer will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in New Washington. Memorial contributions can be made to Buckeye Central Athletic Boosters or the donor's choice.
