He was a funeral director partner of Reynolds Funeral Home, Quarryville. Now in its fourth generation, the funeral home was founded in the early 1890s by his grandfather, Fred Reynolds, and carried on by his father.
Reynolds was the mayor of Quarryville Borough from 1954 to 1958. He had also served on Quarryville Borough Council and Lancaster County Planning Commission and was a former treasurer of the Quarryville Fire Company. He was appointed to the Valley Forge Park Commission in 1962.
He was the co-operator of Rhoads Restaurant, Quarryville, in 1976.
Active in Boy Scouts of America, he was a former scoutmaster in Quarryville.
He served with the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist's mate during World War II.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; Washington Lodge 156, Free & Accepted Masons, Quarryville; and Octorara Hunting Camp in Centre County.
He was past commander of Quarryville American Legion 603 and past hibernating governor of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge of Quarryville.
An avid fisherman and boater, he was an instructor for Susquehanna Power Squadron.
He graduated from Peddie School, Heightstown, N.J., attended Franklin & Marshall College and graduated from Eckels School of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia.
Born in Quarryville, he was the son of Carl Reynolds Sr. of Quarryville and the late Sena Groff Reynolds.
He was married to Norma A. Reese Reynolds for 50 years in June.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two sons, Carl III, husband of Anita Reynolds of San Francisco, and Joel, husband of Kimberly Reynolds of Quarryville; a grandson; and two brothers, John of Quarryville and Henry of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Pickering.
