Sgt. Fozzard was killed May 20 in Vietnam when he stepped on a booby trap. He was a career man in the United States Army.
Sgt. Fozzard was born in Herrin, Sept. 19, 1937, the son of Robert V. and Edna Smith Fozzard. He married Peggy J. Pippin, in Murphysboro, Nov. 23, 1965.
Sgt. Fozzard was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Herrin. He was also a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Patty Taylor of Murphysboro; his parents of Herrin; a grandmother, Mrs. Camnay Smith of Herrin; sisters, Pamela Fozzard, Leah Fozzard, and Debra Fozzard, all of Herrin.
