Elizabeth Kersh Starkey - SAVANNAH - Elizabeth Starkey, 90, passed quietly during the night of November 5, 2008. She was the daughter of Robert and Gertrude Hiers Kersh of Savannah. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church. She served as a Deaconess and a Trustee, and was a featured soloist in the church choir. She performed leading roles in many citywide musical performances. She was also active in numerous civic and community organizations throughout her lifetime. Her forty year accounting career with Savannah Electric and Power brought her many friends but most have preceded her. During WWII she was a computer operator and air crew weather briefer at Hunter Army Air Field before returning to Savannah Electric. She was the wife of Benjamin Starkey, Jr. who preceded her in death and is survived by daughter Gretchen Thomas Alnutt (Ronald) and son Robert Thomas (Jo), grandchildren Dawn Alnutt Kennedy (Ernest), Deven Harper Alnutt, Susan Thomas Wright (Fred), Benjamin Barton Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas Campbell (Robert), one great grandson, and two great-great grandchildren. The family appreciates the excellent care she received from the staff at Azalealand Nursing Home. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday in Bonaventure Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Deven Alnutt, Paul Kennedy, Benjamin Thomas and Fred Wright.
