Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 10th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on October 15, 1861, and was mustered in as a Private in Comany D. He would then serve the length of the rest of the war, being promoted to Corporal on June 1, 1863, and re-enlisting on January 3, 1864. He saw the conflict through to it's conclusion, and on August 12, 1865 he was honorably discharged at the Ward United States Army General Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.
